Jonas Nyqvist

A 48 years old Swede, started fishing when he was 5 and been suffering from a very bad fishing addiction ever since. He was a member of the Swedish
National Sea Angling Team while he lived in Sweden and fished many of the best destinations in Northern Europe. He moved to Thailand in 1985, and bought his first (and the first western owned) Big Game boat in Phuket in 1987 and has since then been involved in fishing around Thailand. In 1997 he started www.bluewater-anglers.com and put Phuket on the world map of game fishing destinations. He was one of the pioneers to fish the Andaman Islands. He also arranged the "ABU Garcia Dream Trip" in 2001 to these
islands (and recently ABU’s 2009 Dream trip to Cheow Lan), and has had articles published in Scandinavian, German and American fishing magazines. During the last couple of years he has traveled to remote mountainous areas of Thailand to explore and to develop the fantastic untapped resource of Mahseer fly fishing, a new fishery for the region that he believes will be world famous in the future.
Jonas speaks English, German, Scandinavian languages and Thai. Jonas addiction to all kinds of sport fishing has taken him around the globe in his quest for hard fighting fish species. After fishing 24 years in Thailand he calls Thailand his home and favorite fishing place.
